For over 140 years, Kentucky Woman's Missionary Union (WMU) has focused its vision, actions, and resources to equip Kentucky Baptists to embrace the Great Commission. We seek current approaches to help churches cultivate a missional culture. From providing ways to pray for and give to Southern Baptist missions to methods of contextual ministry/ evangelism KentuckyWMU can help your people learn about missions, develop spiritually toward a missional lifestyle, and participate in church and denominational work.

KentuckyWMU functions as your state office. We have missions strategists ready to help you integrate missions discipleship resources into your church.

We also provide:

  • Hands-on missions events
  • Missions Leadership Training
  • Mission Trip Opportunities

KentuckyWMU helps churches EQUIP their people for the mission, SUPPORT the mission (in prayer and generosity), and GO on mission from their neighborhoods to the ends of the earth.

Our relationship with WMU, SBC

In collaboration with National WMU, KentuckyWMU seeks to promote missions involvement and discipleship, particularly through missions discipleship groups. These discipleship groups introduce preschoolers, children, students, and adults to Southern Baptist missionaries and missions efforts in North America and around the globe.

WMU believes our call to mission is more than a "mission statement" is is a mandate from the Lord straight out of Matthew 28: 19-20. We are to make disciples of Jesus.

WMU seeks to make disciples who are committed to live out the Great Commission each day! We say our mandate is To make disciples of Jesus who live on mission. Its what we do, its all we do.

WMU's resources are designed to be:

  • Biblically Rooted
  • Missions-Focused
  • Church-Based
  • World-Aware
  • Denominationally-Supportive

Our Convention Relationship

Kentucky WMU is an auxiliary agency to the Kentucky Baptist Convention and serves Kentucky Baptist churches.

"The members of Woman’s Missionary Union organizations in Church and missions of the Kentucky Baptist Convention shall comprise the membership of Kentucky Woman’s Missionary Union, Inc." (excerpt taken from the Articles of Incorporation of Kentucky Woman's Missionary Union, 1995)

We are unashamedly Southern Baptist, and seek to partner with like-minded individuals. We work in partnership with national WMU and function as the Kentucky state office for WMU.

Our offices are housed in the Kentucky Baptist Building.

"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Matthew 28: 19-20
